Comment of the Day: Name the time, name the place and we'll be there.
ABC's so-called investigative reporter John Trapper misrepresented a statement by Bill Clinton on the economy and global warming. Trapper, whether purposely or not, reported the statement out of context, and it was so bad, even some bloggers from the right defended the former
president. Is Trapper in the pocket of someone, or just incompetent?
A bill introduced in the Mississippi Legislature would make it illegal for restaurants to serve obese people. Now you would think it was some do-gooding liberal who would introduce such a law, but hold on there. It was Republican state Rep. W. T.
Mayhall Jr. The GOP likes to tell everyone they are the party of less government. They think the government should butt out of people's lives. But the truth is, they want to control people. They want to strip citizens of their fundamental rights, usually in the name of national security. Don't know what this fat bill is all about.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid proves he hasn't the stones to stand up to the Bush administration, this time on Telecom immunity over illegal spying on Americans. Reid tries to spin it as a victory for the Democrats, but even an eight-year-old can see through that crap. The two parties may have different symbols, but they sure seem to have the same goal - protect the corporations at any cost.
The Bush surge, er, economic stimulus package, won't work because it does nothing to alleviate the underlying problem, which his political party in a frenzy of deregulation of the credit and banking industries caused in the first place. Was this part of their master plan? An attempt to get rid of the middle class. All the evidence points that way.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State reports that the new dollar coins puts God in a more prominent position. With the lack of success of dollar coins in this country, God might not be liking that idea. But, hey, maybe this is just what it will take to spur the use of the coins.
The anti-smoking drug Chantix is under FDA warning for reports of suicide and suicidal behavior by people taking the medication. What is it with Big Pharma? Their cures seem to be worse than the problems they are treating. The way we see it, their major interest is in making a profit and if it helps some people in the process, all the better. If people get hurt in the process, too bad for them; they were sick anyway.
