TELL THE WORLD WHAT YOU THINK

Welcome to Ravel Babel.

Comment of the Day: The yo-yo effect can be hard on just about everyone, but even more so to someone susceptible to motion sickness. Be careful how often you pull on that string.

Hillary Clinton appears to be on a downward spiral following a clean sweep by Barak Obama in this weekend's Democratic primaries and caucuses. But do not count her out yet, although she has replaced her campaign manager.

The good news for Romania is that Nokia plans to build a factory in the Eastern European country. The bad news for workers is their pay will be substandard. Of course the mobile phone make is closing a more expensive German plant tossing workers on the street. Don't you just love capitalism?

Secreatry of Defense Robert Gates has finally come out and said he endorses a pause in reducing the number of troops in Iraq. Bush Baby Gen. Petraeus wants the slowdown in the draw down so he can figure out what the hell he's doing. We're not surprised here. The American people are more concerned about surviving day-to-day in the Bush economy than they are with the continuation of the occupation of Iraq. If we bring the troops home and stop the rape of the Treasury by Bush Buddies, the economy will turn around.

Actor Roy Scheider, a versatile performer, has died at the age of 75. Many will remember him as Chief Brody of "Jaws" fame. We also remember him in some silly movie about a helicopter and as Bob Fosse.

Amy Winehouse, a troubled girl if ever there were, captured five Grammy awards, including song and record of the year for "Rehab." How ironic for her. Talented for sure, but disturbed as well. What is it with young female singers - think Britney Spears - and their acting out in public. No one ever say Doris Day drunk in public or flashing her bare crotch. But then again who would want to? /p>

More than one-third of the announced Macy's lay-offs come from the closure of its North Division headquarters in Minneapolis. That's a big hit for any size city. It's not just the numbers, but the people behind the numbers. How many in total will be affected? We feel for them.
