Welcome to Ravel Babel.
Comment of the Day: Ice Storm 2007 hit the Universal Headquarters of Ravel Babel and knocked out our power. We have our power back, but not our Internet connection. Thanks to the good graces of the neighbor and their unsecured wifi, we are able to update the site. Just don't tell them. We've missed you a lot and appreciate the text messages from you that kept us going through the dark and the cold.
The Justice Department is blocking the congressional investigation into the destruction of CIA tapes. The real news behind this is that Congress is acting shocked that Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey would continue the policies of obstruction for which the Bush administration is known. Many had hoped Mucasey would defend and support the Constitution, but his actions belie his words
The telecom industry has been assisting the Bush administration in illegally spying on Americans a lot longer than was previously known. This appears to be the basis for wanting immunity for telecom. How much more coverup is going on by the criminals in the White House?
The Des Moines Register has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in the upcoming Iowa caucuses. But will this be enough to counter the "O" factor? Does anyone really care who the Democratic nominee is? Will it matter?
A. Alexander, writing in the Progressive Daily Beacon, wonders if the American people should despise the Bush administration for their constant illegal activities, or the Congress, who abets them. In our view, the enablers deserve more of our anger because they allow the unlawful acts. Republicans will always support corporations over the people, but the Democrats give us false hope.
