Welcome to Ravel Babel.
Comment of the Day: Just can't wait to share that New Year's kiss with you.
Robert Novak, in this meaningless column on Benazir Bhutto, tells us absolutely nothing new. No wait. He does write that he had coffee with Bhutto in August at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Whoop-de-freaking-do. Everything he mentions was already public knowledge - she was talking with Musharraf. the CIA, Condiliar Rice. Ho hum. Little Bobby The Troll has lost it. Way past time for him to be put out to pasture.
Looks like the presidential candidates, and certain columnists, have finally figured out that voters are living in the real world. Welcome, people. We are tired of Washington caving constantly to the corporations. Real life is not about how much profit Wal-Mart makes, it's about how the average American sees his paycheck shrinking. It's about affordable health care, the cost of gasoline, sending our children to college. Some candidates seem to understand this; others are only giving the people lip service. It's up to us to weed them out and elect those who really care about us.
Michael Dobbs of The Washington Post has written an article on sorting campaign truth and fiction. He calls it The Fact Checker and he wastes a lot of time and energy writing down some of the things the candidates say and his explanations on why they are not true. Hey, Mikey, we could have saved you some trouble. If a candidate's lips are moving, you can be fairly sure that what you are hearing is fiction. Like Grandpa was so fond of saying, "Don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see. Unless it's a politician. Then believe nothing you hear from them."
Iowa remains a horse race to the wire for Democrats vying for the presidential nomination. The latest poll shows John Edwards with a slight lead over Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. You know what? It doesn't matter who the Democrats run. The Republicans are in such disarray that George McGovern could win. Well, maybe not, but the only thing to stop the Democrats from taking the White House are the Democrats in the Senate. They may work against their own party just so they can keep rolling over and getting their bellies rubbed by the Republicans.
