Who Should We Despise More?

A. Alexander, writing in the Progressive Daily Beacon, wonders if the American people should despise the Bush administration for their constant illegal activities, or the Congress, who abets them. In our view, the enablers deserve more of our anger because they allow the unlawful acts. Republicans will always support corporations over the people, but the Democrats give us false hope.

It is hard to decide anymore. Who to despise more, a President and his people that are hell-bent on remaking the United States of America into a plutocratic Nazi-like fascist State, sans the Jews in the ovens, or the feckless and pathetic Democrats in Congress? It has truly become impossible to choose between the two.

Should "We the People" choose to support a rogue administration that tortures people, or the Pelosi-led Democrats in Congress who turn a blind eye to Mister Bush's use of torture?

Should "We the People" choose to support a criminal White House that illegally spies on innocent U.S. citizens and that has made Nixon's transgressions appear minor in comparison, or the Harry Reid-led Democrats who helped write Mister Bush's criminal actions into law?

Should "We the People" choose to support a President who lied the nation into a war so that his buddies in Big Oil could steal the invaded country's resources, or the Democratic Congress that pretends it wants to stop the war and then -- without fail -- capitulates and writes the blank check that allows the lies and theft to continue?

Should "We the People" choose to support an Executive Branch that is populated by hordes of people who have committed innumerable impeachable offenses, or the Congress too absurdly cowardly to impeach those who've committed the innumerable impeachable offenses?

Should "We the People" choose to support Mister Bush and his FCC Chairman who are putting in place the communications and media structure that will allow large corporations to complete the theft of our democratic society, or the mealymouthed Congressional Democrats who huff and puff and threaten and blow and in the end ... do nothing?

It is hard to decide anymore. Who to despise more, the criminal or the accomplices?
